Deadly storm hits US
At least nine deaths attributed to poor road conditions due to the great snow storm that hit the US, said the New York Times, and more than 7,600 flights were canceled in the country from Friday 22/1 until Sunday 24/1.
The fierce blizzard arrived on Friday afternoon on the east coast of the US, affecting the US capital and surrounding States of Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
According to CNN, airports in Washington and in neighboring States, including New York, are closed because of bad weather.
According to the New York Times, five deaths due to the bad weather had been until night Friday in North Carolina, one in Virginia, one in Kentucky and two in Tennessee.
The blizzard forced the governors at least 10 States (Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, West Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky) to declare a state of emergency
