And seven in ten fall psychological violence

Three out of ten men physically abused by the woman of the crisis in Greece, and seven out of ten are victims of psychological violence, according to a European study, as stated in the counseling psychologist-psychotherapist Frosso Fotinaki, the "Agency FM».

Mrs. Fotinaki from the clinical work of the last six years, finds more forms of psychological or economic violence, because as he says, rarely a couple brings to the office the issue of physical violence and unfortunately is something that usually hide behind closed doors.

In economic violence detects more cases of the man to the woman, where Comrade requires absolute control, revenue and expenses of the woman, making her lose all autonomy.

"What we see for the man who has nurtured more with the social role of breadwinner, is that losing this role brings aggression. To balance that this deficit becomes psychologically, attacking the woman and trying to reduce it, "says Ms features. Fotinaki.

Below is the entire interview:
Q .: What evidence do you have for domestic violence in the Greek reality, which has been shaped in recent years?
Ans .: Domestic violence with the economic crisis, has increased both for men and for women. Regarding the violence that is the woman, the most recent survey we have in our hands is the 2013 from Human Sexuality Study, which shows us that violence, physical, verbal or sexual have increased by 47% over the economic crisis, with one in three women anymore, having been the victim of physical violence. Now, regarding the man -because now and the man takes via- during the economic crisis we have evidence, through a European study, organization Domestic Violence in Europe, which took place in Greece, Britain, Belgium, Hungary, Sweden, Portugal, Germany and Spain. We see from the study that Greek men are victims of psychological violence 72%, while they have suffered physical violence at the rate of 31.7%. In Greece, Hungary, Belgium and Spain, even identified the most frequent psychological violence on man while both physical violence Greece comes first with 31.7%, followed by England with 15.1% and Belgium with 14.2%. The data of the study actually captured in 2010, however, the estimates of the experts, is that these rates have increased, but we have newer recordings.
And I stress the high rate of psychological violence and physical violence actually -because the man receives and physical domestic violence and even a form of violence that would rarely admit it feels even more threatened the image if come to out and reveal something.
Q .: That three out of ten Greeks eat wood?
A .: Yes. And even talking about mild physical violence, that the woman abruptly pulls the man, pushing him of throwing objects, smacking him. These are forms of physical violence that we see more and more often now, the woman to the man.
Q .: And the reason is that now the man "did not bring"?
A .: The reason is that the man is degraded more and more on the role of, on the image of the woman resents very often, because it is left alone in all this, and of course these statements are relationships anyway not They have strong communication and understanding foundation.
Q .: You on your clinical work what observed from 2010 onwards?
A .: What I see is more forms of psychological or economic violence. Rarely will we see a couple to bring the issue of physical violence in the office, unfortunately. Not speak for that. It is dark numbers. I see that the economic crisis has a role crisis, identity crisis in the couple, and an anger, an aggressiveness in relationships and it seems that chronic most stress, six years later, having exhausted the individual has exhausted self-control, has abolish dialogue and certainly aggression is the means of imposing longer couples.
Q .: The economic violence is shaped and how most of whom practiced: from man to woman or woman to man?
A .: Most observed cases of economic violence, economic control from the man to the woman. And tell you how it is formed: When the companion requires absolute control, revenue and expenses of the woman, for example, and removes the right to manage its own salary or fair share of home income, making the losing any autonomy. We see many audit cases from the man to the woman, while in the opposite case, where the woman may have the reins of the audits, the man becomes unemployed, we do not see the woman carries the male economic violence to that extent. Perhaps because she has learned to such shares or otherwise, or to grant management. What we see on the man, who has nurtured more with the social role of breadwinner, is that losing this role brings aggression. To that balance this deficit becomes psychologically, attacking the woman and trying to reduce it.
Q .: To return to the issue of physical violence: Can a man with the help of specific change and to "shorten his hand"?
Ans .: For truly I will be vertical. The only way to change behavior is a violent person to perceive itself as having a problem and that harm to himself and to his environment. Only then, and only when adequate assistance of special psychiatrist or psychologist, a person can change his behavior. Ie it must approach a specialist. And here I must say that sometimes one behind abusive behavior may be hidden and psychopathology and unfortunately the economic crisis has played a leading role, with people not care for their mental health, to avoid economic costs. Also it should be said that the companion or the environment should not tolerate. I see many women say that perhaps blame them feel that they are bad companions, so abused. Big mistake and big catch. Women must see the problem of their partner and understand that this man is sick to abuses and need to occupy himself his problem to seek help. We can not save anyone. We need everyone to save himself. We can only support.
Q .: The same applies to the woman abusing a man?
A .: Yes. The violent person can be changed only if you understand the problem and approach the specific unturned cause behind this abusive behavior. Let me stress here that abuse is behavior is choice. So anger is feeling. We can find much more healthy ways to get out the anger from abusing our partner, our family, our children, our partner.
